Hockey and health

Everyone has a different physique, and everyone copes differently with physical exertion. And so we come to another equally important question: Is hockey good for your health? Or is it better not to risk it?

Hockey is a dynamic sport, where a lot of energy is expended. Of course, when you play hockey you need to be active, be strong and enduring.

Like any sport, hockey has its benefits:

  • Hardening for the body, because it is a winter sport and, as a consequence, the number of colds is reduced;
  • Since hockey is an active sport, it can help to lose excess weight
  • Hockey players are constantly watching the puck, thereby training the eye muscles
  • Develops important human abilities such as coordination, quick reaction time, and also helps a person feel balance

But we should not forget that any sport, including hockey, also has certain health risks.

One of the main dangers is that it is an injury-prone sport. While playing hockey, there is a very high risk of getting injured while skating, while taking or performing a power play, and the risk of getting injured by the puck is also present.

If we talk about stress, then it’s serious. Naturally, they are not for everyone, so you need to assess your strengths sensibly and with full awareness of the situation to understand whether it is possible to play hockey or not.

Before you start practicing hockey, it is important to have an examination and consult a doctor in order to know what your health problems are. Not all illnesses can be played in hockey and you need to be aware of that as well.
